Last Wednesday, Adams Elementary School Principal Amy Alzina recognized 86 students at an assembly for taking part in the school's summer Accelerated Reader program.
These students attended Wednesday and Saturday reading sessions throughout the summer.
Alzina surprised all of these students with an Adams tiger hat.
The top two readers were fifth-grader Kelly Garnand, who averaged 57 minutes of reading each day over the summer, and fifth-grader Nicola Parker, who read 858,590 words.
