Goleta Council Members Visit Operation School Bell

From left, Goleta City Councilman Roger Aceves, Councilwoman Paula Perotte, Mayor Michael Bennett and Councilman Jim Farr visit Operation School Bell behind the Goleta Valley Community Center. In front is Julie Cannata, chairwoman of Operation School Bell. The visit was part of a tour of the Community Center and surrounding properties as part of the city’s Civic Center Feasibility Study, which will evaluate whether the Community Center property could become a Civic Center that would include Goleta City Hall. Operation School Bell, facilitated by members of Las Aletas, provides new school clothes, shoes, backpacks and other school supplies to children in need in the Goleta Union School District. More than 600 children were served during the 2013-14 school year. Las Aletas is an auxiliary of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara.
