Jazz Violinist Regina Carter Brings ‘Southern Comfort’ to Lobero Theatre

Jazz violinist Regina Carter¹s Southern Comfort band took the stage at the Lobero Theatre on Tuesday for a rollicking good set of jazz-influenced early blues, gospel, Cajun and Appalachian old-time country music from her newest album, Southern Comfort. Since she first gained attention in the late 1980s with the pop/jazz group Straight Ahead, the range of top artists who have benefited from her exquisite string work is stunning — Max Roach, Oliver Lake, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton and Billy Joel are just a few — and it¹s clear to see where their inspiration comes from.
