Antioch University Santa Barbara (AUSB) is a campus of Antioch University, a five-campus university located in four states. Antioch University was founded in 1852 on principles of rigorous liberal arts education, innovative experiential learning, and socially engaged citizenship. The Santa Barbara campus has been in operation since 1977 offering Bachelor’s completion, Master’s degrees, Doctorates, and teacher credentialing. Students of AUSB are working adults who seek a new direction in their careers or the mobility provided by earning an undergraduate or graduate degree. Antioch Santa Barbara is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

The Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) is Santa Barbara’s
local, not for profit, public transportation system. The MTD provides a
reliable, safe, comfortable means of mobility to those who lack other
transportation, including students, the elderly and individuals with
disabilities who have access to bus stops. MTD also provides an
attractive transportation option for commuters and shoppers who may
otherwise drive cars.
A seven member board of directors governs the MTD. Two members are
appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, two are appointed by the
Santa Barbara City Council, one is appointed by the Goleta City Council
and one is appointed by the Carpinteria City Council. The seventh
member, also known as the at-large director, is appointed by the other
six members of the board.
The MTD covers approximately 52 square miles in the southern area of
Santa Barbara County, between the Ventura County border to the east and
Winchester Canyon at the western edge of Goleta. The District
encompasses the communities of Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria,
Montecito, Summerland and Isla Vista.

Local leaders of nonprofit mental health and housing agencies gathered February 6, 2008 to establish the Association of Local Leaders for Community Mental Health, or ALL 4 CMH. The coalition was formed to promote improved delivery and increased efficiency of mental health services and housing supports in Santa Barbara County.
