Coach Ed Gover says his young Vaqueros are 'just not ready yet.'

Tara Ahern hit .600 and accounted for eight points (five kills and three aces), but it wasn’t enough for Santa Barbara City College women’s volleyball team, which dropped its opener at Pasadena.

The scores were 25-20, 25-15, 25-11.

Samantha Potter also had five kills.

“We have 14 new girls and we played like freshmen,” Vaquero coach Ed Gover said. “We’re getting better at passing, but we’re just not ready yet.”

Dave Loveton is Santa Barbara City College‘s sports information specialist.
