Michelle Malkin: The War on Cops
The left’s police-hating chickens are coming home to roost. While partisan liberals have gone out of their way to blame conservative media and the Tea Party movement for creating a “climate of hate,” they are silent on the cultural and literal war on cops that has raged for decades — and escalated tragically this year.

The total number of law enforcement officers shot and killed this year is up 19 percent over last year, according to the Christian Science Monitor. More officers have died in ambush incidents this year than in any other since 2000.
The Lakewood, Wash., massacre on Thanksgiving weekend claimed the lives of four dedicated officers getting ready for work at a coffee shop Sunday morning. Maurice Clemmons — the violent career thug who received clemency from former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee and benefited from fatal systemic lapses in the criminal justice system — had many other enablers.
Clemmons had told numerous friends and family members to “watch the TV” before the massacre because he was going to “kill a bunch of cops.” The witnesses did worse than nothing. Several have been arrested for actively aiding and abetting Clemmons — with shelter, food, money and medical aid — before he was discovered in Seattle early Tuesday morning and shot after threatening a patrol officer investigating Clemmons’ stolen vehicle.
A militant online group called the National Black Foot Soldier Network celebrated Clemmons as a “Crowned BOW (Black on White) Martyr” and dubbed the Lakewood ambush a “pre-emptive strike on terrorists.” It wasn’t the only chilling propaganda cheering black-on-white police murders in the Pacific Northwest this year.
Just three weeks before the Lakewood massacre, the region endured another police attack. Suspect Christopher Monfort was arrested last month in the targeted shooting death of Seattle police officer Timothy Brenton and the wounding of his partner, Britt Sweeney. Monfort had written diatribes against law enforcement, harping against white police officers.
The leader of a Seattle hip-hop/punk band commemorated the assassination with a T-shirt depicting Monfort’s face splattered with blood and overlaid with a Seattle Police Department badge under the slogan “Deliver Us From Evil.” The other side of the shirt read, “Most of my heroes don’t appear on no stamp.”
From where does the deadened and deadly callousness toward the thin blue line come?
How about years of cop-bashing rap from N.W.A.‘s “F*** tha Police” and Ice-T’s “Cop Killer” to Dead Prez’s “Police State” (“I throw a Molotov cocktail at the precinct”) and Game’s “911 is a Joke” (I ought to shoot 51 officers for the 51 times that boy was shot in New York”)?
Try the glamorization of poisonous anti-police domestic terrorist groups such as the Weather Underground and the Black Panthers. Add in the mainstreaming of anti-police demagogues Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (whose ex-wife and daughter were arrested last week after verbally abusing a Harlem cop and resisting arrest after running a red light). And toss in the global glorification of death-row cop-killers Stanley “Tookie” Williams and Mumia Abu-Jamal by the Hollywood elite.
It is, in my mind, no coincidence that another of 2009’s bloodiest multiple-police shootings took place in Oakland — a hotbed of black nationalism/Free Mumia radicalism that gave us the likes of Angela Davis, Huey Newton and President Barack Obama green jobs czar turned liberal think-tank fellow Van Jones (whose “creative” activism and “energy” in the Bay Area won senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett’s heart). Four Oakland officers went down and one was injured when a convicted felon ambushed them during a routine traffic stop. Nearly 20,000 law enforcement officers and supporters from around the country filled a memorial event for the fallen.
Obama — Chicago pal of police-targeting Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers and the convener of the national beer summit to indulge his race-baiting, police-bashing Harvard professor friend Henry Louis Gates — did not attend the service.

If you REALLY think that you just connected Obama to cops being killed, you have absolutely lost your mind. Noozhawk, c’mon! I read you to be informed, to learn things! This is absolute BS, I am shocked that you’d print her column. Back to the Indy I go…

Enica is going back to the Indy. There she can read a one sided view of anything and everything. It would be a first to read something from them that did not support the left and oppose the right. Facts are not allowed to enter the discussion.

So many people paint police with a broad bush, which lables them crooks and racist with badges. Like any profession, there are good and bad police officers. While I have enountered racist and abusive police officers, most I have encountered are good men/women who are dedicated to protecting and serving the public and willing to give their lives if necessary.
Some communities are unwilling to address the preditors who rape, rob, carjack, murder, destroy property and terrorize their community. However, when the police come in and confront a criminal and the criminal is shot, these same people condem the police. This is plan ignorance.
Stop the cycle of violence, but starting with yourself. Say no to violence committed by members of your own community.

All the original reasons to attack Iraq have been debunked, but now the same supporters of that wonderful war are making noise about Climategate and blaming Democrats for everything gone wrong, like cops being killed.
Please tell me something good that happened during the last administration other than tax breaks for the haves, humungous spending, corporate corruption and the trashing of safety regulations.
re David Harsanyi two days ago. If I remember right, the “gate” comes from when burglars the White House broke into the Watergate Hotel to steal election information from the opposition party and a president resigned over it..

Michele represents the Loser mentality - The Republican Party is dying because of these people and , frankly, it should. It has surrendered to the politics of the Deep South, full of ignorance, bigotry, violence and anti-american divisiveness. Blaming liberals for violence against police is typical though, as if conservatives could easily solve the problem . Well, hey folks - where have you been ? Your Mr. Bush bankrupted the country , siphoning money from all of us to pay for his bogus war and support his oil buddies . NO MONEY FOR COPS NOW!!!!!!!!! All gone to the Feds so we can rebuild Iraq- nice job ! and you think conservatives have all the answers? Think again please.

Typically when the unemployment rate rises in America the level of violence increases. This has absolutely nothing to do with Obama. Look at the historical statisics on crime if you do not believe me. You will see a very high correlation between violent crime and the unemployment rate.
So Michelle can one again make up reasons that nicely fit her agenda, but facts are facts. In fact, under the Obama Administration many cops that were going to lose their jobs did not due to the stimulus package which maintained a higher level of law enforcement.
Maybe we should take a closer look at our gun laws and ban semi-automatic weapons and reinstitute the Brady Law?In countries where gun laws are much more restrictive you do not have anywhere near the level of violent crime you see in the U.S.

Thanks Mr, Stanton for standing behind what you believe and not hiding behind a fake name.
Notice that many more lefties, liberals, progressives and democrats are not afraid to put their names where their mouth are.
Too many right-wing Noozhawk comment writers use cute derogatory names and selected “facts” from Rush, Beck, Michelle, Savage, Rove, Luntz and O’Reily (sp.) as trumpeted by Fox News. Most are afraid to sign their opinions.
A democracy needs an informed citizenry, not a propagandized and distracted bunch of know-nothings afraid to listen to opposing views and the scientific opinions of a majority of scientists about crucial issues effecting us all. Quoting a few, often well paid distractors is not enough to make me feel safe.
Thanks Noozhawk. As much as I laugh at the likes of Michelle, the progressive writers that you publish make up for it. That is fair and balanced, something Fox has no idea about.

Well the police are not without a role in this violence. The increasing militarization of civil police, above all, has fueled the divide between people going about their business and a culture of cowboys on steroids, who now have automatic weapons.
One only has to look at the dozens, DOZENS of instances where SWAT teams have broken down doors, trashed peoples’ HOMES, KILLED INNOCENTS SITTING IN THEIR OWN HOMES and the like to see why people aren’t all smiley with the police.
Amadou Diallo would like a word with you, too.
Our government is bloated and out of control. Well, maybe not out of control of someone, but out of control of The People.

Well, Michelle, if the alleged murderer had attacked the dead officers by throwing
copies of your book at them, instead of blasting them with an illegally obtained gun,
would they still be dead?
Ditto for the victims of the deranged Ft. Hood shooter, and the deranged Virginia
Tech mass-murderer from two years ago?
Wasn’t it your bosom buddy, presidential wannabe Mike Huckabee who granted
the alleged killer “clemency”, over the objections of the local DA, because he saw into the man’s “soul” that he deserved a second chance?
Kind of like when your president, GW, saw deep into Putin’s KGB soul, to realize
that he was a “good man”.
Maybe, if that “second chance” had included a paid internship working for Malkin, rather than the violent drifting, and odd jobs, Huckabee’s good kid went through, perhaps he wouldn’t have flipped out so tragically.

I’m tellin ya Ronny D, putting your name up in lights on the internet is a very dangerous thing. Something you seem to be naïve about. Look at how many stupid comments Local has made (ha ha), and yet his identity is still protected (and that of his family). I can pick on Local all I want but at the end of the day he is still safe. Seriously Ron Dexter, the internet is a sewer and filled with rats. Please don’t put your name up there for the world to see. You might think it brave and noble but it isn’t. It’s very dangerous. Ask anyone who has been there and it will shake yer world. You are not just posting here on our little humble Noozhawk, but to the whole world. I may disagree with you politically as I do Local and others here but there is a price to pay for your lack of anonymity on the WWW. Do as some of your liberal/progressives do and keep it safe. I have no less respect for Local, Publius, San Roque or any of the other anonymous libs here because they don’t publish their names, same would go for you. It’s one thing to publish in a local paper that has little exposure outside our wonderful town here but stay away from the internet with that stuff, it’s a different environment altogether. Don’t mean to sound paranoid but I have been burned before and it ain’t good, stay safe and Cheers!

As a fiscal conservative, I have to say that the police damage their own reputations on a daily basis. They are mostly people with Napoleon’s complex that treat people with no respect and act with a superior sense of self.
I think one of the most annoying things about the Right is that they want government tyranny in the name of police and security while the left wants government tyranny in the form of cruel and unusual taxes.
Both have created this massive Federal government with tyranny hitting the average citizen from all sides. Time for a truly FREE society.
