U.S.-China Public Relations Specialist Wen Chen Speaks to Rotary Club of Goleta
The Rotary Club of Goleta recently welcomed guest speaker Wen Chen, a public relations coordinator for New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTY) in Los Angeles.
Chen is a former contributing researcher to the Center on Public Diplomacy’s Nation Branding at Expo Shanghai 2010 project, while she was a second-year student in the master of public diplomacy program at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
Through her experiences in international relations and communications for U.S.-China relations, Chen focused her studies on cultural diplomacy and nations’ political propaganda through media, art and sports.
Having come from China to the United States, Wen observes U.S.-China relations with a unique understanding of both cultures. She has been serving as a public relations specialist, communication adviser and event host for U.S.-China international affairs and ceremonies for the last five years.
She was involved with projects for the Shanghai World Expo, the Consulate General of China in Los Angeles, the Chinese American Film Association, the L.A. Arts Law Office (International Division), CNN, 20th Century Fox, ABC Studios, CBS Productions, NBC, Disney Studio and Warner Brothers. She is passionate about her role as a cultural liaison.
During studies of communication and public diplomacy at the University of Southern California, Wen’s interests became focused on classical rhetoric, public speaking, persuasion, media effects, nation branding and soft power.
It was an interesting presentation that gave the Rotary members a greater understanding of the differences and similarities of two countries.
If you would like to attend a Rotary meeting and become more involved in our community, have great camaraderie, fun and interesting meetings, we would like to invite you to visit one of our meetings.
