Tar Creek
Tar Creek is a hiking area in Ventura County near Fillmore. It’s full of pools, canyons, waterfalls and water slides — a bit like the Seven Falls area in Santa Barbara’s Mission Canyon but on a much larger scale. It is reasonably accessible for most hikers, but there are challenges climbing on the rocks.

Young Drivers in the Drive-Through

Forty five years ago this week, young presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy gave a campaign speech to an enthusiastic crowd at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens. A short week later, he was gunned down in Los Angeles.
