Councilman Dale Francisco Announces Candidacy for Santa Barbara Mayor
Surrounded by dozens of supporters, Santa Barbara City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tempore Dale Francisco on Tuesday announced his candidacy for mayor.
Francisco, who made his announcement at Santa Barbara’s Casa de la Guerra, pledged not to accept campaign money from unions or developers, “or anyone whose livelihood depends on decisions made by the City Council.”
He discussed the future of the city and its budget crisis, and said that some members of the council haven’t set their priorities based on what’s best for the city and are advancing their own political agendas.
Check back with Noozhawk for a full report on the announcement.

Wow really? Dale for Mayor? Hadn’t even considered that. Well I hope he doesn’t split the vote and throw Falcone or whats-her-face back in. Damn having only Cushman made the decision so easy. This only helps the business-as-usual candidates. We want change !!

What would we ever do with a mayor that has the common sense that is so uncommon these days - (especially in politics)? We may have to go back to the land of reality.

Dale doesn’t need union money when the News-Press is probably bankrolling him!

After his announcement at noon today, a couple of hours later Dale Francisco continued his style of leadership by yelling and jabbing his finger at a public speaker during the city council meeting today. This was after the speaker, a 100% voter in Santa Barbara, criticized Francisco for his political views and his alliance with the Newspress editorialist.

Dale runs…nothing to lose, everything to gain…This assures Heleen’s victory, opens the 4th seat and creates a scenario where Dale can get three like-minded folks on the council, giving him a majority…smart, Machiavellian, wishfull thinking?

It would be great to finally have someone as mayor who represents the locals.Remember, the day without a Mexican Mayor Blum was praising the people breaking the immigration laws and undermining local wages. If she wants them so badly why doesn’t she save the city a bunch of money and replace union workers with illegals?I’m sure Dale will be smarter than that.

As far I can tell, Dale is the only candidate who votes his conscience, not his advantage. He gets my vote!

What’s he got to lose? He stands to make an extra 20k per year as Mayor. At worse, he stays on the Council. Not bad for a part-time job in this economy. Plus benefits! Heck…we all should seek becoming Mayor or Council Person.

Mr. Francisco is NOT the best candidate for SB Mayor, let alone the City Council where he now resides. He is a severe homophobe who gave money to the YES on 8 campaign last year. This means he doesn’t believe in equal rights, allowing his religious beliefs to dictate his political moves.
We don’t need any more hate and bigotry in this town or state and I hope SB’ans will think twice before considering this bigoted candidate.
NO way Dale!
