SBCC Golf: Sumika Sim Shoots 75 as Vaqueros Take 2nd

Jackie Molstad posts a 78 as SBCC finishes as a runner-up to Sierra in the 15-team Desert Classic tournament.

Sumika Sim turned in a 3-over-par 75 on Saturday at Indian Canyons Golf Club in Palm Springs and Jackie Molstad posted a 78, helping SBCC take second in the 36-hole Desert Classic women’s golf tournament.

Sierra College topped the 15-team field with 630 strokes, followed by the Vaqueros with 646 and Santiago Canyon with 656. SBCC shot 318 on Saturday, 10 shots better than its first-round score.

Christina Casillas of Sacramento City was the medalist at 146 (72-74).

Asaka Sim, Sumika Sim’s younger sister and a former Dos Pueblos High standout, shot 74-82—156 to lead SBCC. Sumika Sim was next (84-75—159), followed by Jenna Boyle (79-83—162.
