The Santa Barbara County Fire Department conducted a Regional Interagency Hazardous Materials training drill on Tuesday at UCSB. Participating agencies included UCSB Environmental Health andSafety, the Carpinteria-Summerland and Montecito fire districts, and the Lompoc, Santa Barbara City and Santa Barbara County fire departments. The scenario consisted of a simulated explosion injuring several workers and the release of radioactive materials. The exercise utilized real-time notification and response protocols and time frames.
