One person was killed and another was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a rollover crash on Highway 101 west of Goleta.

The incident occurred at about 12:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes just south of Dos Pueblos Canyon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle overturned several times and came to rest on its wheels about 75 feet off the roadway, the CHP said.

The female driver was declared dead at the scene, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Her name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

A passenger, reportedly a teenage female, had to be extricated from the wreckage, Bertucelli said.

She suffered moderate injuries, he said, and was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

The crash was under investigation by the CHP.
