High school girls lacrosse teams will take over the stadiums at San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara High on Saturday as the Gold Coast Invitational returns to the community.

The three local schools will joined by 21 teams from the CIF Southern and San Diego Sections. The teams will divided into four brackets: Division 1, Division 1-2, Division 2-3 and Division 3.

Unbeaten Dos Pueblos is entered in Division 1-2, San Marcos in Division 2-3 and Santa Barbara in Division 3. There also will be divisions for JV and Frosh/Soph teams.

“The Gold Coast Invitational is the most competitive regular-season tournament from top to bottom this spring,” said San Marcos coach Paul Ramsey. “Of the 24 teams attending, only four have a losing record and it’s already the one-third point of the season. It features four undefeated teams.”

The CIF D1 bracket includes Agoura (2-3), San Diego’s Patrick Henry (4-0), Palos Verdes (8-0) and West Ranch (2-1).  The semifinal matchups are Agoura against Patrick Henry, and Palos Verdes versus West Ranch.

Dos Pueblos leads the D1/D2 Division against Crescenta Valley, El Segundo and Valencia.  The Chargers face El Segundo in their first game on Saturday.

San Marcos opens the CIF D2/D3 bracket against Santa Monica (8-1). Village Christian and Woodbridge are the other two teams.

Santa Barbara plays its season opener against Hart in a three-team Division 3. The Dons’ second game is against Riverside Poly (4-5).

Games start at 9 a.m. on the stadium fields at each of the host schools.

The complete schedule and GoFan ticketing information are available on the Gold Coast Invitational website.
