Two people sustained minor injuries Saturday when their vehicle plunged over the side of Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes near Stagecoach Road at about 10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two occupants of the vehicle were able to free themselves from the wreckage, which ended up about 100 feet below the highway, fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli told Noozhawk.

They were assisted back up to the roadway to a waiting AMR ambulance, which transported them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

The crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
