Two people were seriously injured Tuesday in a rollover crash on Highway 101 along the Gaviota Coast, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Arroyo Hondo and the Vista Point.

Two occupants of the sedan were trapped in the wreckage, and had to be extricated by firefighters, fire Capt. Nikki Stevens told Noozhawk.

Both were taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

Northbound traffic was shut down in the area for a time following the crash, which was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
