Two people were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 154 at the top of San Marcos Pass.
The crash — involving a Toyota RAV4 and and a Volkswagen Golf GTI — occurred at about 2 p.m. near East Camino Cielo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person suffered moderate injuries in the collision, and was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
A second person with minor injuries was examined at the scene by paramedics, but declined transport to the hospital, he added.
One victim had to be extricated from the wreckage, Bertucelli said.
The Volkswagen ended up about 30 feet off the road following the collision.
One of the vehicles reportedly was making a left-hand-turn when it was struck broadside.
Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the incident, along with sheriff’s deputies.
The crash was under investigation by the CHP.
