Two men were arrested and illegal drugs and weapons were seized Tuesday after investigators served search warrants at two locations on the South Coast, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
At about 8:30 a.m., deputies served a warrant on the 800 block of Cieneguitas Road, said Raquel Zick, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
A second search warrant was served later in the day on the 4200 block of Pozzo Circle.
Arrested were Mousa Altayyeb, 25, and Yousef Altayyeb, 28, both of Santa Barbara.
Mousa Altayyeb was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a controlled substance for sales while armed with a loaded firearm, and conspiracy, all felonies, and misdemeanor charges of possession of narcotics, Zick said.
Yousef Altayyeb was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a controlled substance for sales while armed with a loaded firearm, and conspiracy, all felonies, and misdemeanor charges of possession of narcotics and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Both were released without bail under COVD-19-related jail emergency rules.
Detectives seized 334 grams of methamphetamine, 4 grams of cocaine, 84 grams of fentanyl ‘M30’ pills, sales-related packaging and indicia related to narcotics sales, a Ruger .38 Special revolver, a Sig Sauer P250 handgun, a Mossberg Maverick 12-gauge shotgun, a Smith and Wesson M&P15 rifle, four 30-round rifle magazines, and $22,111 in cash, Zick said.
“The counterfeit ‘M30’ pills that were seized in this operation are fentanyl made to look like prescription oxycodone,” she added. “Counterfeit ‘M30’ pills are a dangerous part of the opioid epidemic and are responsible for numerous overdoses and deaths nationwide.”
