Four men are facing attempted-murder charges stemming from an assault that occurred late last week near Santa Barbara, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, June 2, deputies were dispatched to the 4600 block of Gate Way in the Forte Ranch housing development on a report of a fight near the community swimming pool, said Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer.

They found a 20-year-old man with serious injuries who was transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and is expected to survive, she said.

His name and details on his condition were not available.

The attackers fled the area prior to deputies’ arrival, Zick said.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested four suspects in the case at two separate locations, Zick said.

Brandon Tyree Smith, 21, of Santa Barbara was taken into custody on the 100 block of East Carrillo Street.

Jordan Alexander Lopez, 20, and Jude Issam Hallal, 19, both of Santa Barbara, and Michael Christian Lee, 21, of Goleta were arrested in the area of Mesa Road and Los Carneros Road near Isla Vista.

The four were booked into the Santa Barbara County Main Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery, and conspiracy, all felonies, Zick said.

Bail for each was set at $2 million, and they remained in custody Thursday afternoon.

They are due to appear for arraignment in Superior Court in Santa Barbara on Friday morning, according to online court records.

“Detectives do not believe this was a random attack; the suspects and victim are known to each other,” Zick said.
