Santa Barbara County on Sunday reported five new COVID-19 cases and no additional related fatalities.
The county has recorded a total of 34,577 positive cases, with 452 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic arrived locally in March 2020, the online coronavirus status report released Sunday said.
There were eight patients hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Sunday, including two people in intensive-care units. Those numbers have been unchanged for the past two days, according to the county Public Health Department.
Countywide, there were more than 30 active cases — residents who recently tested positive and are considered infectious with COVID-19.
Of the new cases reported Sunday, one each was reported in the Montecito-Summerland-Carpinteria area, Isla Vista, the unincorporated areas of the Goleta Valley, the Lompoc Valley and unincorporated areas of the North County.
More than 55% of eligible Santa Barbara County residents (16 and older) are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Public Health Department.

Santa Barbara County is in the least restrictive yellow tier of California’s color-coded COVID-19 reopening framework, officially known as the Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
On Tuesday, the state plans to end the color-coded tier system.
