Six new cases of COVID-19 — all in the city of Santa Maria — were reported Sunday by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.

The latest tally brings the total number of cases in the county to 514, of which 401, or about 78%, have fully covered.

There were 42 patients being treated for COVID-19 in local hospitals, including 17 in intensive care units, and 51 people are recovering at home.

That’s the highest number hospitalized in almost two weeks, and the most in ICUs since April 12.

Of the six new cases, one is in the 18-29 age group; two are in the 30-49 group, one is in the 50-69 group, and two are in the 70+ group.
