San Marcos softball opened its season with a 6-1 win at Righetti on Thursday
Senior Allie Fryklund threw a complete game and allowed two hits (one of them a bunt) and no earned runs. She struck out eight and walked three.
Fryklund also made an impact with the bat, collecting two hits. Freshman Caitlyn Early had two hits and a RBI in her debut. Kamilah Morales drove in two runs with a triple and scored on a passed ball.
“This was the first time this team has taken the field this season, and I am extremely proud of the effort put in by everyone,” said coach Jeff Swann. “The defense was solid behind Allie, with the exception of two misplayed balls in the air, and the team swung the bat well ,collecting eight hits on the day.”
The Royals’ home opener is April 10 against Rio Mesa.
