Mary Hudson, founder of ARISE International will be hosting the second annual Arise 5K run/walk, Dec. 3 along the beach at the Chase Park soccer field on Cabrillo Boulevard in Santa Barbara.

The event will bring together participants from the community with music, food and festivities following the race. Finishing medals will be awarded to all participants along with gift bags for the top tree runners.

ARISE Women’s Conferences support women from domestic violence shelters and drug rehabilitation homes, and helps them arise from their past to a new life. This year’s 5K Walk and Run is a community fund-raiser for Santa Barbara Rescue Mission’s Bethel House Women’s Residential Treatment Program.

The fundraising goal for 2022 is $50,000 to complete the ongoing necessary improvements at Bethel House.

Through the support of sponsors and event participants, last year’s event raised $31,000 that was used to upgrade the Bethel House Women’s Shelter in Santa Barbara. Renovations included new windows, screens, carpet, bedding replacement, and mattresses.

Bethel House residents were thrilled that members of their community cared enough to make their home a better place for them to live.

Community members are asked to consider showcasing their business or an individual sponsorship to help raise funds that will provide a memorable Christmas gift for the ladies of Bethel House.
