$5,000 Reward Posted in Gun Store Break-In

Police say ATF has joined investigation into theft of 23 handguns from Far West Gun & Supply.

A $5,000 reward has been posted in the aftermath of a Monday break-in at Far West Gun & Supply, 2009 State St. Santa Barbara police said Wednesday that the intruders stole 23 handguns, ranging in caliber from .32 to .45.

Police Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte, a department spokesman, said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives is now on the case and is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the burglary suspects. Officers who responded to a witness’ report and to a security alarm found the store’s glass front door had been smashed and its security bars cut.
