Laguna Blanca’s Theatre Department will present three performances of the musical comedy Once Upon a Mattress, 7 p.m. May 2-4 in the school’s Spaulding Theatre, 4125 Paloma Drive, Santa Barbara.

Carried on a wave of raucous and romantic songs, Once Upon a Mattress puts its own spin on the classic story of The Princess and The Pea.

Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab?

Or that Lady Larken’s love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste?

Or that, in fact, it wasn’t the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night?

Laguna Blanca’s rollicking tale of royal courtship and comeuppance is directed by performing arts instructor Dana Caldwell.

Ticket prices at the door are $12 general admission; $8 for students and seniors. For more information, visit lagunablanca.org/theatre or contact Caldwell, 805-687-2461 ext. 0217 or dcaldwell@lagunablanca.org.

Laguna Blanca is a not-for-profit EK-12 co-educational, college preparatory day school. For more information, visit www.lagunablanca.org or call 805-687-2461.
