The name of the man killed last week in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 101 in Santa Maria was released on Wednesday.
Dylan Deaser, 27, of Grover Beach died in the crash, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
Santa Maria Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel, along with CHP officers, were dispatched to southbound Highway 101 north of Broadway at 7 p.m. Friday.
For an unknown reason, Deaser’s 2011 Kia sedan left the roadway and struck the guardrail, then continued south into an area with dirt and grass west of the highway.
The vehicle overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof.
Deaser, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remained under investigation, the CHP said.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash, the CHP added.
Witnesses told CHP dispatchers that the vehicle had been traveling at high speed prior to the crash, according to CHP emergency dispatch reports.
Family members started a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses. As of Wednesday morning, the effort had raised $16,928.
“Anyone that knew Dylan, knew right away that his number one intention in life was to help others anyway he could. His endless, vibrant, loving energy was obvious to anyone in his presence,” family members wrote.
