Authorities on Tuesday released the name of a woman who apparently drowned in Lake Cachuma over the weekend.

The deceased was Sandra Edith Escobar Garcia, 30, of Santa Paula, according to Raquel Zick, a public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire and sheriff’s departments, along with American Medical Response paramedics, were dispatched to the Lake Cachuma Recreation Area on a report of a missing visitor, possibly in the water.

A Calstar medical helicopter, a county fire helicopter and water rescue personnel also responded to the incident at the park off Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley.

A diver located Garcia in about 20 feet of water.

Attempts were made to revive her, but they were not successful.

“The death does not appear suspicious,” Zick said.
