A bicyclist suffered major injuries Monday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle in the Santa Ynez Valley.

At approximately 2:25 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol were dispatched to the area of Ballard Canyon Road and Bison Lane near Los Olivos, according to fire Capt. Scott Safechuck. 

The incident reportedly involved a mobile car wash truck and the adult male cyclist, according to CHP dispatch reports. 

The injured man was taken by a Santa Barbara County helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Safechuck said. 

The bicyclist was wearing a helmet, Safechuck said.

The rider’s name and details on his medical condition were not available

CHP officers from the Buellton area office were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
