A bicyclist was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a collision with a vehicle on Foothill Road in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara city firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 4:30 p.m. to the intersection of Foothill and Ontare roads, Sgt. Allan Tuazon of the Santa Barbara Police Department told Noozhawk.

The bicyclist, whose name was not released, was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of head injuries, Tuazon said.

The bicyclist, who reportedly was not wearing a helmet, was in the intensive care unit, Tuazon said, but his condition was not available.

The collision remained under investigation.
