Dos Pueblos erupted for four runs in the third inning and beat St. Bonaventure, 5-2, in a non-league game on Monday at Dale Okinaka Field.
Anastasia Brunner, Riley Monroe and Georgia Wilson had RBI hits in the third. Monroe scored the fourth when St. Bonaventure tried to throw out a runner at second base on a first-and-third play.
Bella Nuño doubled in the fifth run in the fourth inning for the Chargers (5-2).
St. Bonaventure threatened in the sixth, scoring a run on two hits and loading the bases. But the Chargers turned a double play to end the inning.
“I’ve gotta give it to the pitchers today,” said coach Mike Gerken. “Georgia and Kaitlyn (Ashby) kept their batters off balance. Of their six hits, most of them were flares and bloopers. Nothing really hit hard all day.
“The defense made every play we needed to, today. Georgia Miller played a great first base today and got a single. Anastasia Brunner was 2 for 3 with a double, and Kacey Hurley did a great job behind the plate and on the bases.”
Dos Pueblos was scheduled to play San Marcos on Tuesday but that game has been rescheduled due to the incoming rainstorm.
