Jiali Coronado and Citlali Morales hit big three-point shots in the third quarter to spark the Bishop Diego girls basketball team to a 39-29 win over Santa Ynez on Monday night. The Cardinals improved to 10-1.

Coronado hit a pair of treys and Morales had one as the Cardinals outscored the Pirates 16-7 to take control of the game.

Bishop also made its free throws in the second half.

“After going 1-10 in the first half from the free throw line ,we went 4-5 in the second half and finished the game on a 31-13 run,” said coach Jeff Burich. “Santa Ynez was more physical than us, especially in the early going, but I’m happy with how we finished the game.”

Galilea De La Cruz led Bishol with 10 points and six steals and Lily Simolon had six points and 10 rebounds.

Bishop ranked second in the CIF-SS 4A Division.
