Bishop Diego’s Madeline Ferries threw a 3-hit shutout Thursday in a 9-0 softball win over Santa Barbara.
Ferries struck out eight and walked one in the complete-game win.
Lauren Weeks collected four hits in five at bats to help lead the Cardinals to victory, including a 2-RBI single in the first inning.
Sarah Fellers hit a home run for Bishop Diego in the second inning, and the team added four runs in the sixth inning, with RBI from Weeks, Tessa Johansen and Chelsea Hayes.
Aleeya Zaragoza, Madison Benedict and Beatrize Southern had hits for the Dons.
Fellers had the most chances in the field with eight.
Bishop Diego improves to 2-0 on the season, while Santa Barbara is now 2-3.
