Shea Romero’s efficient hitting and Oliver Fowler’s defense and passing paced Bishop Diego to a 25-12, 28-26, 25-15 non-league boys volleyball sweep at Dunn on Thursday.
Romero had 11 kills on 16 swings, served an ace and had three digs. Fowler picked up 18 digs and had a passing average of 2.4. Logo Va’a was effective in the middle, hitting for a .500 average.
Freshman Sue Lauamanu came off the bench and gave the Cardinals a big lift in the tight second set. He had four kills, an ace, a block and three digs for five points. Freshmen Tom Spieler and Braylon Katers served well, leading Bishop on five-point scoring runs.
Bishop coach Dillon Bennett was pleased to see his team rebound after a loss at Viewpoint.
“We addressed areas where we thought we could improve, got everyone back on the same page, and our general energy was significantly higher,” he said. “Today, I was really impressed with how the team supported one another while we switched guys in and out of the lineup and maintained the energy level.”
Bishop Diego is 3-1 overall and hosts Oxnard on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
