A strong fourth quarter wasn’t enough for Bishop Diego, as the Cardinals came up short at La Reina, 43-39, in a Frontier League girls basketball game on Thursday.

“We missed way too many shots inside of three feet,” coach Jeff Burich said. “We also struggled at the line, missing 15 free throws.”

Down by 17 in the third quarter, the Cardinals outscored La Reina 18-6 in the fourth to make it close.

“We just gave them too many second chances in the first half and they hurt us making six threes in the game,” said Burich.

Citlali Morales scored eight points and Ashlhy Oxton and Julia De La Cruz each had six for Bishop (16-7, 3-2 in league).
