Alina Urzua sets her sister, Siena, for Bishop Diego’s match-winning kill against Garey in a CIF-SS Division 8 second-round playoff match.

Bishop Diego rebounded from a first-set loss and defeated Garey in four sets in a CIF-SS Division 8 second-round girls volleyball playoff match on Saturday in Pomona. The scores were 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18.

The win puts the Cardinals in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at Trinity Classical.

Siena Urzua had 14 kills and Amber Watkins added 10 to lead Bishop, which is having its best playoff run in several years.

Senior middle Ariana Morones contributed four kills in the middle and setters Amy Mancinelli and Alina Urzua combined for 28 assists while running the 6-2 offense.

The Cardinals got a key contribution fron Ai-Yan Shefflin. She had an eight-point serving run in the fourth set to help Bishop pull away to the victory.
