A seven-run fifth inning broke the game open for Bishop Diego in a 9-1 win over Cate Monday.
Cardinals starter Jack Stowe pitched a complete-game three-hitter with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Austin Chrestensen hit a two RBI single and Isaac Veal an RBI triple for the Cardinals. Evon Weeks hit an RBI single among his two hits, and Gabe Martinez also hit an RBI single.
“Jack gave us another great effort,” Bishop Diego coach Jack Stathopoulos said. “He did a great job commanding his fastball in the zone, and managed to get a lot of punch outs with all of his pitches.
“We broke it open in the fifth. Our lineup was able to string together some really good at-bats and put the ball in play.”
