Bishop Diego freshman scoring sensation Kayalilly Penn was named the CIF-SS Division 7 girls soccer Player of the Year.

Penn’s scoring prowess led the Cardinals to the division title, the first CIF soccer title in program history.

She finished the season with a county-record 55 goals, including 23 during the Southern Section playoffs. She scored all six goals in a dramatic 6-5 overtime win over Thacher in the Division 7 title game.

Bishop junior midfielders Siena Urzua and Isabel Romero were named to the All-CIF Division 7 team. Their playmaking set up several of Penn’s goals.

Pato Guerrero, who took over the program this season, was honored as the division’s Coach of the Year.

Cabrillo High had  two players receive All-CIF honors in Division 4: senior goalkeeper Maya Mendek and senior forward Naomi Wiley.

San Marcos’ Sergio Diaz was named All-CIF in Division 1.

The senior’s all-around play led the Royals to a second straight Channel League title and a first-round playoff victory.

Diaz was the Royals’ leading scorer with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points.
