Bishop Diego’s Tessa Johansen hit a walk-off 2-RBI double with two outs in the seventh inning to lift the Cardinals past Foothill Tech 2-1 in a Tri-Valley League game Thursday.

Starter Tara Gregson got the win for the Cardinals with a complete-game two-hitter, giving up one run and striking out five. Foothill’s Danielle Bishop also went the distance and took a shutout into the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Gregson reached first base on an error by the shortstop, and Lily Simolon walked, putting runners at first and second. Then Johansen came through with her game-winning double.

Chelsea Hayes went 2-for-2 for the Cardinals.

Bishop Diego was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error with phenomenal catches in the outfield by Mikayla Desjardins and Yvette Rosales. Anna Fittipaldi had the most chances in the field with six.
