Michael Luckhurst scored for the third straight game on Monday as Bishop Diego High earned a 1-1 boys soccer tie at Malibu.

Luckhurst has five goals in three games, trailing only his older brother Adam, who has seven goals.

“It was a very hard fought game,” said coach Mick Luckhurst. “Everyone played well. It was a milestone to get the tie but we had more chances and played with the hearts of lions.”

The Cardinals (2-0-1) posted a 3-0 shutout on Saturday at St. Bonaventure. Bishop took the lead after a cagey first 30 minutes. Michael Luckhurst struck the back of the net with a clinical finish after some tidy attacking play by Adam Luckhurst.

Bishop started the second half strongly with Michael Luckhurst scoring a volley from a beautifully crafted free kick by defender Daniel Giannini. The afternoon’s last goal came from Adam Luckhurst whose on a strike from 20-plus yards.
