One of Goleta’s most well-known vacant buildings is finally getting a tenant.
The former Carrows and Denny’s building at 5677 Calle Real will soon be home to Coast Supply Company. The store provides flooring, windows, kitchen, and other home products.
The popular store already has locations in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Ventura.
“It will be an amazing showroom,” said manager Andres Quiroz. “It has great space, and great parking. It’s a great location.”
The new store is next to The Nugget and is surrounded by parking along a busy Calle Real thoroughfare.
The building, Quiroz said, will be a perfect showroom. Construction on the building is moving along, and the crew hopes the building will open by the end of August.
“You never know with construction, but we are hoping,” Quiroz said.
He said the company is looking forward to being in the Goodland.
“We are the best at what we do,” Quiroz said. “We sell awesome flooring. We are excited to open our store in Goleta so people can have access to us there.”
Coast Supply was formed in 1945.
Goleta Gets Another Jersey Mike’s Location
It seems as though the market is nowhere near saturated for Jersey Mike’s, because Goleta is getting another location.
This time, it’s in the Fairview Shopping Center, 145 N. Fairview Ave., next to the Santa Barbara Chicken Ranch.
HKnown for its quick sandwiches with abundant helpings of meat, Jersey Mike’s is moving through the process at the Goleta Design Review Board and was recently seeking approval for a new sign.
“I think it is a very handsome sign,” said board member Martha Degasis. “I think it is rather jaunty and adds a little panache to the Center.”
Jersey Mike’s already has a steady line of customers at its Camino Real Marketplace location, and the new spot will likely be another popular lunchtime destination.
Mercury Lounge Becomes Centennial Beer
The former Mercury Lounge in Old Town Goleta is going to become the Centennial Beer Hall, at 5871 Hollister Ave,
The once-popular Mercury Lounge closed at the end of March.
It was Goleta’s oldest bar, and the location had been operating continuously as a bar since 1957, when it was formed as Gus’s Cocktail Lounge. It became the Mercury Lounge in 1995.
The team behind the Centennial Beer Hall got approval for their diamond-shaped sign above the door earlier this week at a Design Review Board meeting.
TAP Thai on Tap
One of Santa Barbara’s most popular Thai restaurants also wants a piece of Goleta.
TAP Thai is coming to Hollister Village, next to Jeannine’s Restaurant and Bakery.
It will replace what was once Sharkey’s, at 7060 Hollister Ave. #106.
“With all the support and good friends we have, we are able to grow a little bigger this year,” according to the company.
“At TAP Goodland, all dishes will be as delicious as the upper State Street kitchen. Same menu with fresh ingredients, local brew on tap and dog friendly patio — we know how much pets have meant to you in this past year.”
Aly’s Brazil in Buellton
Buellton will soon be home to Aly’s Grill from Brazil, where you “pay by the pound.”
The new restaurant is from the team behind Aly’s, which closed in Solvang after the pandemic.
“During the pandemic, we found a new outlet for our love of cooking and culinary talents and began to offer support to local families with order-to-go meals cooked in our kitchen and boxed to be served at their home tables,” the company states on its website. “This sparked the idea of a new offering for the Santa Ynez community as the effects of the COVID pandemic dissipated.”
The new Brazilian cuisine concept, at 205 E. Hwy 246 #102, is expected to open this fall.
