Authorities have released the name of the woman whose body was found last week near Highway 101 in Santa Barbara.

The deceased was Jill Marie Drennen, 42, of Santa Barbara, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.

Drennen’s remains were discovered on Oct. 4 by a passerby in the area of the northbound Milpas Street freeway onramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at about 6:15 p.m., and determined that Drennen — who reportedly was in a sleeping bag — was dead. She was possibly homeless, according to authorities.

“Cause and manner of death are pending, but do not appear suspicious,” Zick said.

Anyone with information that may be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the CHP at 805.967.1234.
