Santa Barbara Master Chorale sings Haydn’s The Creation
January 29 @ 3:00 pm - January 30 @ 5:00 pm$12. – $22
On Saturday, January 28, at 7:30, and Sunday, January 29, at 3:00, the Master Chorale will present The Creation by Joseph Haydn.
Composed between 1797 and 1798, this work was the culminating point of Haydn’s last great decade of composition. The libretto, written by Baron Gottfried van Swieten, celebrates the creation of the world, mainly as described in Genesis and John Milton’s Paradise Lost. The first performance in 1798 was conducted by Haydn himself.
This performance will be at First Presbyterian Church, 21 East Constance Ave. in Santa Barbara.
The concert will be led by our talented new artistic director and conductor,
David Torres. Mr. Torres is currently conductor of the UC Santa Barbara Lumina Choir, assistant conductor of the UCSB Chamber Choir, and artistic director and conductor of the elite choral ensemble Vocal Infinity. He is presently in the last year of his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Choral Conducting at UCSB.
