Several candidates are running for office in March for the Santa Barbara County’s Board of Supervisor seats in Districts 1 and 3. The League of Women Voters of Santa Barbara’s Education Fund is sponsoring candidate forums in which each candidate will be asked a list of questions and provided equal time to answer. The forums are free to attend.
The forums will also be live-streamed by TVSB on the League’s Facebook page and available for later viewing on YouTube – see my.lwv.org/california/santa-barbara.
Sample ballots will be mailed on Jan. 23 to all registered voters in Districts 1 and 3. Voters should be sure to register in order to receive sample ballots prior to the election.
District 1 Candidate Forum: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Santa Barbara’s Central Library’s Faulkner Gallery, 40 E. Anapamu St. Both candidates, Laura Capps and Das Williams (incumbent), will attend.
District 3 Candidate Forum: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Goleta Valley Community Center, 5679 Hollister Ave. So far, two of the four candidates, Joan Hartmann (incumbent) and Karen Jones, have agreed to participate. Candidates Jessica Alvarez Parfrey and Bruce Porter have been invited.
Simultaneous Spanish translation will be provided. Accessible parking is available at the District 1 forum in the public garage on Anacapa Street next to the library and at the District 3 forum in the parking lot next to the Goleta Valley Community Center.
For additional access accommodation, call 805-462-7126 or email to president@lwvsantabarbara.org.
