Carpinteria closed out the Citrus Coast League season with an 11-7 win over Nordhoff to finish 7-3.
Sydney Endow returned to the Warriors’ lineup and won two sets, including a victory over Nordhoff’s No. 1 player in the second round.
“She created great openings with her pattern play and was able to finish off the points at the right times,” said coach Charles Bryant.
Emma Lapidus went 3-0 and dropped only four games. Xochitl Moctezuma got Carpinteria’s last singles point against the Rangers No. 3 player.
In doubles, “the tandem of Jeannette Carrillo/Zahra Porinsh continue to get better and better. They are looking so good together right now. They are minimizing their mistakes while putting their opponents in tough situations,” said Bryant.
Lexi Persoon/Mercy Torres went 2-0 together.
“I was so happy to see how they played. Mercy was just great at both the baseline and at the net while Lexi was making her presence felt throughout as she was consistent from the baseline and a terror at the net with her long range,” said Bryant.
The Warriors will play in the league tournament at Pepperdine on Monday and Wednesday.
Carpinteria finishes the regular season 10-9 overall.
