Sadie Mead had a double-double of 15 kills and 32 digs, but it wasn’t enough for the Carpinteria girls volleyball team in a five-set loss against Hueneme in a Citrus Coast League match on Monday night.

The Vikings prevailed 20-25, 16-25, 27-25, 25-21, 15-12.

“Sadie Mead was on fire and played an excellent match as she fought for every point,” Carpinteria coach Dino Garcia said of his senior outside hitter.

Malia Shellabarger also recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 26 digs, while opposite Sarah Weitzman added seven kills and 14 digs. Setter Marlene Sanchez dished out 38 assists and libero Emily Montoya scooped a record-high 37 digs.

Carpinteria is 5-5 in the CCL and 8-8 overall.
