A spirited Carpinteria girls basketball team stayed close with Hueneme for three quarters before falling 43-28 in a Citrus Coast League game on a special night at the Carpinteria gym.

Before the game U.S. Congressman Salud Carbajal presented to the school a U.S. flag that flew above the Capitol building for a day to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Title IX legislation. The new flag will replace the current flag on the gym wall.

“The Warriors played with excellent effort and competitiveness,” said coach Henry Gonzales. “I was very happy with how we competed and the energy throughout the game.  We will put that positive effort towards tomorrow’s home game with Fillmore.”
