Carpinteria’s Zahra Porinsh and the doubles team of Ariana Lounsbury and Charlotte Cooney advanced to the finals of the Citrus Coast League individual tennis tournament at Channel Islands High.
By making the finals, the Warriors earn berths in the CIF-SS Sectional Tournament on Nov. 21.
Porinsh, the No. 2 seed in singles, defeated Malibu’s Maxine Kelly, 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. She will play top-seeded Galen Selbert Perkins for the title on Wednesday. Perkins defeated Carpinteria’s Silke Leonard, 6-1, 6-1.
Leonard will play Kelly for third place.
No. 1 Lounsbury/Cooney rallied to make the doubles final, outlasting fifth-seeded Nordhoff’s Anna Flavo/Cassidy Gaston in a tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
The Carpinteria duo will play Malibu’s Mathea Lasky/Athena Ram in the final. The Malibu team knocked off Carpinteria’s Ashley Gonzalez/Natalie Martinez in the semifinals, 6-2, 7-5.
Gonzalez/Martinez meet Flavo/Gaston in the third-place match.

BOYS WATER POLO
Justin Main scored three goals and Asher Smith dished out several assists and drew ejections in Carpinteria’s 25-0 win over Hueneme in a Citrus Coast League game.
The Warriors complete the regular season against Nordhoff on Wednesday.
GIRLS GOLF
Santa Ynez sophomore Mackenzie Phelan qualifed for the CIF Central Section Champion by finshing 12th at the 24-player CIF-CS Area Tournament at Visalia’s Valley Oaks Golf Course.
Phelan fire an 89, one shot below the qualifying standard.
The section finals are Monday in San Luis Obispo.
The Pirates are competing in the Area Division 3 team championships on Tuesday at Valley Oaks
