Libero Sebastian McCurry picked up 33 digs for the Carpinteria boys volleyball team in a 25-9, 25-21, 25-7 sweep of Foothill Tech on Friday night.
The Warriors improved ot 5-1.
“He was all over the court, running down balls and getting 33 digs in the process,” said Carpinteria coach Mickey Caughey of McCurry. “His tenacity was contagious in inspiring the rest of our team, which resulted in a total of 90 team digs for the match.
“But Sebastian didn’t stop there. Like other players on our team, he had been in a serving slump until this match. He had a serving run of 11 straight points in the first set and another serving run of 12 straight points in the third set, and only one missed serve for the whole match.”
Diesel Slade had a serving run of seven straight points in set two which helped us win that tight set. He also finished with 18 digs.
Slade and Joaquin Gonzalez (11 kills) led the attack from the outside. Ty Wilson, a senior in his first year of playing volleyball, recorded three kills and seven blocks. Middle River Taff hade eight kills and four blocks and opposite Zach Isaac also had 8 kills along with three blocks.
On Monday, Carpinteria plays at Dos Pueblos.
