Villanova scored in the second overtime period to beat Carpinteria 8-7 in a non-league girls water polo game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Piper Clayton had two goals and four assists to lead Carpinteria (6-3 overall).
“The loss was tough but taught us a lot and gave us the experience of playing under pressure,” said coach Sergio Castaneda.
Carpinteria plays Citrus Coast League rival Santa Paula on Thursday.
