Carpinteria played a strong fourth period, holding Royal to one goal and pulling out a 13-9 non-league water polo victory on Monday.
The Warriors trailed 8-7 in the third period.
“The game was tense, but the we were able to shut down every attempt by Royal in the fourth,” said coach Sergio Castaneda. “Sophomores Reyn Clayton and Gavin Lohuis had phenomenal games.”
Clayton had a trick while Lohuis, the goalie, made 16 blocks and scored a goal.
Carpinteria (9-10 overall and 3-0 in league) visit Fillmore on Wednesday for a Citrus Coast League game.
