Vincent Rinaldi shifted into another gear with about 20 yards to go and overtook St. Joseph's Darian Langley to win the 100 meters at the Santa Barbara County Track & Field Championships at Santa Ynez High on Saturday and remain undefeated on the season.
Rinaldi got off to a slow start and was in fifth place at 25 yards into the race. He moved up to second and trailed Langley with about 15 yards to go. The Carpinteria senior punched the accelerator and surged past Langley to win in 10.92 seconds. Langley finished in 10.94, and Lompoc's Sheldon Canley came in third in 11.2.
